How Much Does Commercial Flooring Estimating Cost?

Commercial flooring estimating services are usually priced per square foot of flooring, per project, by monthly membership or by the hour. CFE charges a fixed rate per square foot of net installed area, starting at 1 cent per square foot, offered as a monthly membership with volume discounts or pay-per-project. Scope, complexity and volume set the final rate.

How CFE pricing works

CFE uses a fixed price per square foot, based on the net installed area of the flooring being estimated, so you know the cost before the takeoff starts. Rates start at 1 cent per square foot. Each package is customized based on the flooring scopes you bid, your expected monthly volume and the software you use, as either a monthly membership with volume discounts or pay-per-project. Request your confidential pricing package.

Arithmetic example only: at the starting rate of $0.01 per SF, a 10,000 SF net area would be $100. Your actual rate depends on your package and scope.

What changes the price of a flooring takeoff?

  • Scope: carpet only vs. a full building of carpet, LVT, sheet goods, resinous and base
  • Complexity: patterns, inlays, borders and custom layouts
  • Deliverables: seam diagrams, shop drawings and Callidus files
  • Document quality: scanned or incomplete plans take longer
  • Volume: regular work usually qualifies for better rates
  • Revisions: addenda that change the scope after the takeoff starts

Compare cost with what a takeoff saves

The fee is usually small next to the material on a commercial flooring bid. One avoided over-order of carpet, or one bid you could not have prepared in time, often covers many takeoffs. It also frees estimators and salespeople for pricing and customers. Try a project first with our free takeoff trial.
